Adam's Dream Logos 2.0 - Adam's Closing Logos - Dream Logos Wiki

Background: Argosy Pictures is a movie studio owned by Argosy Media, launched in 1973. Its first movie to use a proper opening logo was B.O.O.M, released on December 17, 1975.

1st Logo
(1973-present)

Logo: Basically a white copyright disclaimer on a black BG saying "(C) (YEAR) ARGOSY PICTURES", with the "A" in "ARGOSY" being the corporate logo, and the rest being in Times New Roman font.

FX/SFX: None (or the fading in and out if you want to count it), or the scrolling up of the text in the closing credits on some movies.

Music/Sounds/Voices: None,or the ending theme of the movie.

Availability: Common. First appeared on The Beginning. Appears at the end of credits of movies made by Argosy.

Editor's Note: None.

2nd Logo
(December 17, 1975-1979)

Logo: On a black background with white lines, "ARGOSY PICTURES" zooms in in white Argosy Black font. Then "PRESENTS" in the same color and font fades in below "ARGOSY PICTURES".

FX/SFX: TBA.

Music/Sounds/Voices: None,or the opening theme of the movie.

Availability: Common. First appeared on B.O.O.M.

Editor's Note: None.

2nd Logo
(1979-1990)

4C95AE5E-AE84-48AD-A438-348321BB64AD.jpeg

Logo: On a black background, we zoom out from the blue text "ARGOSY PICTURES" until the text is in the centre. We then see the Argosy "A" logo in lime green appear behind the text via a Scanimated swirl effect. The text moves below the "A".

Variations: There is a longer prototype version that uses the letters "AP" in a generic stencil font instead of the Argosy A.

FX/SFX: Scanimate graphics, made at Dolphin Productions, New York.

Music/Sounds: The Rede Globo ident from 1980.

Availability: Rare, due to plastering. Most recently seen on Argosy Direct (Argosy and MTM's streaming service) prints of the 1980 straight-to-video film, The Grey Cat's Adventures, featuring a character that would eventually become Aaron.

Editor's Note: None.

3rd Logo
(December 2nd, 1982-present (animated children's movies))

Logo: Aaron, a grey cat with green eyes and red mouth peeks from the bottom of the screen. Then runs around the street. He goes on and on and on and on and on (about 8 times). When he stops, we see a sign saying "Argosy Pictures" in a colorful version of the corporate Argosy Black font, then Aaron falls into a hole.

Variants:

  • Starting in 1984, Aaron speaks. As he falls in the hole, a "WHOA!" is heard instead.
  • On teen movies, Aaron crashes to the sewer below the hole.
  • By late-1999, coinciding with Aaron's change of design, his whiskers are now visible, and his eyes switched to a black cornea with a white pupil. Also, the font is changed to a simplified version known as Argosy Black Neue.
  • By 2009, the logo is now animated using Blender.

FX/SFX: Cartoon animation.

Music/Sounds: A hip-hop tune, with screeching sounds as Aaron stops. Then a slight swish as he falls into the hole.

Availability: Common, as animation is one of Argosy's main businesses. First spotted on Aaron: The Movie, which was released in theaters on December 2nd, 1982.

4th Logo
(January 1, 1990-January 16, 2000)

Logo: On a morning sky background, particles zoom toward us. We zoom out through a sphere, which turns chrome. We zoom out further which reveals the particles formed the "A" and the text "RGOSY PICTURES".

FX/SFX: The particles.

Music/Sounds: Silent, or the opening theme of the movie, or a 6-note orchestral tune.

Availability: Common.

Editor's Note: None.

5th Logo
(December 18, 1999-present)

Logo: On a black BG, orange glowing wave/swirls form the "A" in gold, then "RGOSY PICTURES" in silver slides in from the bottom.

FX/SFX: Not that much.

Music/Sounds: The opening theme of the movie.

Availability: Current.

Editor's Note: None.
