Background: Blake Studios is a television show distributor that distributes many TV shows. It was first opened in 1974. Later in 1982, a cartoonist founded Geo, a cat with grey skin, blue eyes and a red mouth. Geo, the cat appears in many of Blake's logos. Years later, the company founded many of it's arms, Blake Pictures, which distributes many films, Blake Home Media Distribution, which distributes many TV shows and movies to Blake for home use, Blake Games, which distributes many video games, Blake TV, a channel that airs many Blake TV shows, Blake Animation, which distributes animated TV shows, movies and shorts, Blake Kids, a channel which airs many kids' shows, Blake at Night, which is a block on Blake TV that shows every night at 9:10pm and Blake Adult, a channel which airs many adult TV shows. Today, Blake Studios is owned by DHX Media.
1st Logo
(1974-1976)
Nicknames: "B in Space", "Blake in Space"
Logo: On a zooming space background, we see a abstract B forming itself. Then, a line draws itself and "blake studios" fades in below.
Variant: On shows associated with ITC, "and" appears below the logo.
FX/SFX: Everything.
Music/Sounds: A high-pitched synth tune with whooshes.
Availability: Extremely rare. Most of their shows made during the time were very hard to find, but could be seen on Short Tail Cat and Green Kids.
Scare Factor: High, due to the music and sounds, but if this logo is followed by the ITC logo, the scare factor could be higher a bit.
2nd Logo
(1976-1982)
Nickname: "Reversed PBS Jingle"
Logo: On a green-black gradient background, the word "Blake" files in from the top-left of the screen. Then, a line draws itself in and the word "Studios" fades in below.
FX/SFX/Cheesy Factor: Cheap animation and effects.
Music/Sounds: A reversed version of the 2nd PBS logo's music, followed by some bouncing notes.
Availability: Rarer than the first logo, but could be seen on shows from 1976.
Scare Factor: Medium.
3rd Logo
(1982-????)
Nicknames: "Geo the Cat", "Geo the Cat 1st Appearance", "Geo and the Flag"
Logo: On a white background, we see Geo, a grey cat with blue eyes and a red mouth standing next to the blue word "BS" and the words "BLAKE STUDIOS" in purple.
Variants:
On 1982 episodes of Green Kids, the background is green.
On Open Blood, Geo's eyes are closed. Also, he is bleeding.
Starting in 1999, Geo's eyes are now black with white pupils.
On Geo Goes Camping, the logo takes place in a garden at night. Also, Geo is holding a searchlight.
On Geo's Fun Fair for the NES, the logo is 8-bit.
Trivia: Geo the Cat also appeared in the cartoon show made by Blake, The Geo Show.
FX/SFX: None.
Music/Sounds: The closing theme of the show, sometimes followed by Geo saying "This has been a Blake Studios presentation" or a ditty.
Availability: Can be seen on shows by Blake from 1982, such as The Geo Show, Green Kids and Open Blood among others. Strangely, there is some Blake shows that do not have this logo.
Scare Factor: None, a cute logo. Low for the Open Blood version.
4th Logo
(1988-1993)
Nicknames: "Geo Fishing", "Geo and the Fish"
Logo: We see Geo from logo 3 fishing in a rocky place with water below. The words "BLAKE STUDIOS" are seen above. Suddenly, a crab jumps out of the water and bites Geo's tail. Geo then says "Hey! That's my tail!".
FX/SFX: Geo fishing, the crab jumping out of the water and biting Geo's tail.
Music/Sounds: Water sounds, followed by some air playing and Geo's dialogue.
Availability: Can be seen on episodes of shows from 1988. Strangely, this plastered the 3rd logo on the Green Kids episode "Sick Kid!" due to a mistake.
Scare Factor: None, unless you don't like crabs biting you.
5th Logo
(1993-2000)
Nicknames: "Geo's Skates", "Geo Staking", "Poor Geo"
Logo: On a sky background with some grass and sidewalk, we see Geo on some stakes, riding very fast. Suddenly, the words "BLAKE STUDIOS" appear. Then, a tree appears and Geo crashes to it and says "Ouch!".
Trivia: The footage was later used in The Geo Show episode, Geo's Stakes.
FX/SFX: Geo staking, the words appearing and Geo crashing to the tree.
Music/Sounds: We hear some people saying "GEOOOOOOO!!!!!" and Geo saying "What?!". Then, a bang is heard, followed by Geo's "Ouch!" and a moaning sound.
Availability: Can be seen on episodes of shows from 1993, such as The Geo Show and more.
Scare Factor: None, unless you don't like cats crashing.
6th Logo
(2000-2006)
Nicknames: "Geo in the O", "Geo and the Sign", "Celebrating the Year of Making TV Shows Since 1974"
Logo: On a white background, we see a O with Geo leaning in it. Geo's hand are on his belly, while his second hand is holding a sign reading "Celebrating the Year of Making TV Shows Since 1974". The words "blake studios" in red are seen below.
Variants:
Starting in 2002, the sign is gone. Also, Geo's second hand is on his belly,
On 2000 episodes of My Room is Freaking Out, The O has rainbow colours on it. Geo says "Huh?".
On some shows, the O is a square with a live-action image of a burger on it. Geo (off-screen) says "Yummy!".
Sometimes, Geo is not there and the O's outside part is red with the B in white on it.
FX/SFX: None.
Music/Sounds: Just Geo saying "Since 1974 making TV shows!". Sometimes, his ditty is heard after his dialogue.
Availability: No longer current, but can be seen on 2000 episodes of many shows.
Scare Factor: None. Low, bordering on medium for the My Room is Freaking Out variant.
7th Logo
(2006-2013)
Nicknames: "No Geo", "Forming B"
Logo: On a white or shady blue background, we see the B forming itself. Then, the words "blake studios" appear below the B.
FX/SFX: The B forming.
Music/Sounds: The closing theme of the show.
Availability: Rare, but could be seen on Blake TV and Blake Adult.
Scare Factor: Low.
8th Logo
(April-June 2013)
Nickname: "Surprise!"
Logo: On a black background, "Celebrating the New Year of...." in white fades in. Suddenly, the background turns white and Geo pops out of the screen. Confetti starts falling everywhere. The words "BLAKE STUDIOS" fade in.
FX/SFX: Everything.
Music/Sounds: Some silence, then a loud "Surprise!" sound is heard followed by some people cheering and clapping. We then hear Geo saying "Celebrating the exciting new generation of the one and only, Blake Studios!".
Availability: No longer current. Seen on episodes of shows from April 2013 to June 2013.
Scare Factor: None to high.
Note: Starting in June 2013, this logo was gone. All of Blake Studios' logos were discontinued, with this logo. Blake fans started to miss the B and Geo, so they revived them in the next logo.
9th Logo
(June 2013-)
Nicknames: "Classic Geo", "Geo's New Flag"
Logo: On a sky background with glass, Geo the Cat peeks out and walks, seeing his tail having a flag with the B on it. The words "Blake Studios" then appear below.
Variant: On Open Blood: The Movie, Geo's tail is bleeding. This was also seen on reruns of Open Blood.
FX/SFX: Everything.
Music/Sounds: Some garden sounds, followed by Geo's ditty.
Availability: Current. Seen on all shows from 2013.
Scare Factor: None. Many people love this logo as a homage to the classic Geo. Low for the Open Blood variant.
