Background: The VidColor is a standard for consumer-level analog color video recording on a Cassette. The VidColor cassette brand is a line of full color videotapes launched by ConnorWorks Entertainment Inc in 1965. It was one of the earliest home video formats. A VidColor tape is also being capable of having full color video playback and of course Stereo audio, in which it was the first format to do so. In 2004, ConnorWorks Entertainment Inc would later launch it's successor, the VidColor X. Which is notable for having digital High Definition and 4K Video playback for the first time ever. Unlike it's counterpart for the VHS, VidColor tapes are region free and it can support NTSC and PAL formats. The VidColor formats are fully compatible with any other VCR.

1st logo

(1965-1979, 2004-present)

Nicknames: "Saoirse In Space" , "Colorful Saoirse" , "Angelic Saoirse" , "Selkie Saoirse" "Early 60s Saoirse" "Saoirse and the Rainbow" "Saoirse welcomes you to the universe of Color" "VIDColor Trail"

Logo: TBA

Variants:

  • At the end of releases, it's the same as the opening, but shortened to the part where the VidColor logo forms. And as the logo fades out, a copyright notice for the preceding feature appears in a orange chyron font, at the bottom of the copyright notice "This VIDCOLOR tape was pre-recorded by ConnorWorks Video Corporation Inc, A Division of ConnorWorks Industries" in the same font also appears below the notice.
  • In 2004, the logo was brought back for the VidColor X line. Everything was remastered in HD from their original CELs, newer animation has been added to make it longer. later in 2017, the ConnorWorks logomark is now being updated in it's 2017-present logo font
  • On the 1975 VIDColor sample tape, after the logo forms, the camera slowly zooms and stops into Saorise and then she says "Hi there! You're just in time for the upcoming lineup of the VidColor! But before we start off, we're gonna be bringing up to our lineup of VidColor releases starting in the summer of 1975. So sit back and relax and enjoy the wonderful world of full color motion video with harmonical stereo sound. This is the world of Vidcolor!"
  • On rare occasions, if a ConnorWorks VidColor cassette is a Pirated copy without a sticker, there is a very chilling version, it skips to the part where the VidColor logo forms. And instead of Saoirse smiling, she has a grumpy expression on her face and crossing her arms. The "VIDCOLOR" text is now Red and after a few seconds, it changes to "Piracy is a Crime!" and as the logo fades out, a message appears in the same orange chyron font from the closing variant. This message appears as it follows:
    • The preceding ConnorWorks feature you're watching has been interrupted as this VidColor cassette is missing a hologram sticker, it is a serious crime to copy VidColor cassettes according to the copyright law. Please place the sticker back onto your VidColor cassette.

FX/SFX: Early 60s CEL animation, which was way ahead of the time.

Music/Sounds: A rearranged version of the calm and somber string and bell tune from the 1957-1983 CWE logo, in which it becomes into a majestic yet bombastic synth theme. When the "VIDCOLOR" text forms, a synth whoosh can be heard along with the sparkling sounds

Music/Sounds Variants:

  • For the Pirated copy variant, the majestic yet bombastic synth theme tune comes in more heavily as if it was a darker remix of the original tune and the last 4 notes are now being replaced with a more tense synth jingle with a breathy humming sound which leads to a low creepy fanfare to finish off the logo. When the message appears, we hear Saoirse(voiced by Julie McWhirter) off screen telling viewers about piracy as it follows as usual:
    • "Hello! I'm Saoirse! We hoped you watched our product from the ConnorWorks Video Library. But the only problem is that your copy of your VidColor cassette is completely pirated. Whether a professional gang or a lone individual, video pirates are thieves, thieves who are getting very rich at your expense. There are many poor quality, illegal VidColor cassettes now available to buy or rent from sources other than reputable retailers. Not only do these reduce the sound and picture quality of the film, but they may also damage your VidColor VCR. To make sure you're watching the genuine product, please put the genuine sticker back onto your VidColor cassette. If that does not work, return the cassette to your video retailer and explain to them how they sold you an pirated stickerless copy. I'm sure they will understand. But if you were the one who pirated a VidColor cassette, we may have a problem! Piracy is a serious crime, the ConnnorWorks staff would not accept this! For now, please safely eject your VidColor cassette so you can place the sticker back in. Thank you!

Availability: Common

Editor's Notes: It is a cute and well animated logo, however the music might sound a bit jarring to someone, but it's quite harmless.

2nd logo

(1976-2004)

Nicknames: "Scanimate Neon Saoirse" "Laser Light Show" "VidColor Trail 2.0"

Logo: TBA

Variants:

  • Starting in 2000, the bumper is now reanimated and enhanced with updated CGI. The dot on the I in "ViDCOLOR" now creates a pulse. Saoirse is now in its CGI form and in full color.
  • At the End Of Tapes, It's the same as the opening, but shortened to the part where the VidColor logo forms. then the whole logo(along with a glowing neon outline of Saoirse) then starts to disappear with a shadow trail effect leaving a growing spark of light(in a similar fashion to the 1981-1988 BBC Video logo closing variant) As a Copyright Notice screen appears from before, the spark "shines" leaving a small light which flashes a few times and then fades.

FX/SFX: Typical 70s Scanimate, which was way ahead of the time.

Music/Sounds: There were six versions (seven all together if you include the closing):

  • Opening:
    • (1976-1978) A big band marching band-type tune, with kettle drums, in B♭ major. Used from the beginning until 1978.
    • (1982) An orchestrated version of the first and second tunes in a different key (D major), led by violins.. It is unknown if it was used on any other releases.
    • (1978-1991) A soft synth heard at the beginning, which leads into a triumphant orchestral fanfare at the end.
    • (1983) A soothing piano/string tune ending with a 3-note horn tune is used
    • (1991-2004) A calm synth tune with tribal beats. A rising synth stinger is heard when the VidColor logo forms
  • Closing:
    • (1978-1983) A re-arranged version of the marching band-type tune with a powerful flourish.
    • (1982) A slower re-arranged version of the string-led tune.
    • (1978-1991) Ascending THX-like notes and chimes that lead into a shorter version of the Triumphant orchestral fanfare from the opening with with a powerful flourish.
    • (1983) Same as the opening, but with a different ending
    • (1991-2004) Same as the opening, but each section of the opening logo's music plays in reverse order.

Music/Sounds Variants:

  • On some VidColor tapes, it's silent

Availability: Uncommon, it was phased out in favor of the previous logo in 2004 when the VidColor X format launched

Editor's Notes: This logo is a favorite of many due to its really nice animation and catchy music, especially the tribe music in the 1991 version.
