Background: Ex-Tam Sound System is a sound format for DVDs that was created in 2001.
1st Logo (2001-2004)
Nickname: "The Ex-Tam Garden"
Logo: We start off in a garden. Suddenly, we pan up to see a UFO flying. We cut to the UFO, which has two aliens inside it. The first alien presses some controls, while the second alien tried to abduct the whole garden, but didn't had success. We then cut to the grass. A "T" is then projected through the grass. Then, the words "EX-" and "AM" appear at the left and right of the "T". The grass then turns to a metallic floor and "SOUND SYSTEM" appears at the bottom of "EX-TAM". The final stack reads "EX-TAM SOUND SYSTEM". The logo and the floor then fade to black and the words "A whole new sound system you never heard yet" fade in.
FX/SFX: Breathtaking CGI! Holds up very well for a logo made in the 2000's.
Music/Sounds: Some garden sounds, a whoosh made during the projecting of the "T" along with some other sounds that go with the action.
Availability: First seen on the 2001 DVD of Last Action Hero and later seen on the 2003 DVD of Peter Pan and other DVDs.
Scare Factor: Low to high. The whoosh may scare some, but it's a cool logo.
2nd Logo (2004-2007)
Nickname: "The Spotlights"
Logo: On a black background, we see many spotlights moving around the screen. They then move to the centre and create the Ex-Tam Sound System logo in black. Then, they continue moving around the screen until they disappear. The logo then turns white.
FX/SFX: The spotlights moving and creating the logo and the logo turning white.
Music/Sounds: Many whooshing sounds, followed by a deep chime.
Availability: Rare. Most 2004-2007 DVDs were out-of-print, but could be seen on some 2004-2007 DVD releases, such as Spy Kids and more.
Scare Factor: Low. The dark atmosphere may spook some.
3rd Logo (2007-2010)
Nickname: "The Monster"
Logo: On a black background, we see a cartoon monster, who is staring at us. He then opens his arms and gets closer to the screen. He then rips the entire screen, revealing a bloody Ex-Tam Sound System logo. Copyright info fades in below.
FX/SFX: All cartoon animation.
Music/Sounds: A horror theme, followed by the sound of the screen being ripped.
Availability: Can be seen on DVDs of The Simpsons Treehouse of Horror episodes and other Simpsons-related DVD releases.
Scare Factor: Minimal. It was intended to be funny, but the monster getting closer might scare some viewers.
