Background: HAL Laboratory Animation (formally HALKEN Animation & HAL Animation.) was the film division of HAL Laboratory making films based on their games, some of their movies are traditional and CGI animated.

HAL Animation[]

(1992)

Logo: On a blue background, we see the HAL logo with "ANIMATION" under it with no animation whatsoever.

FX/SFX: Just the fade in and fade out.

Cheesy Factor: But when HAL moved to Japan and was renamed HALKEN then HAL Laboratory Inc. They used this logo.

Music/Sounds: None.

Availability: Scarce. Only seen on Kirby's Dream Land: The Movie.

Scare Factor: None.

HALKEN Animation[]

(1993-1998)

Logo: On a paper background, we see a hand holding a pencil drawing the HALKEN logo, the it draws "ANIMATION" under the logo. Then the background fades to black and the HALKEN logo gains it's rightful colors.

FX/SFX: The pencil drawing the logo and the transformation.

Cheesy Factor: But when they distribute or produce an animation film, they have this?!

Music/Sounds: A pencil writing sound is heard when the pencil draws the logo, then a ta-da-like sound is heard when the background and logo changes.

Availability: Rare. This first appeared on Kirby's Adventure: The Movie. This last appeared on Earthbound: The Movie.

Scare Factor: Minimal due to the sound at the end.

HAL Laboratory Animation[]

1st Logo

(1998-2017)

Logo: On a black background, we see the HAL Laboratory logo with "Animation" under it with no animation whatsoever.

FX/SFX: Same as the HAL Animation logo.

Cheesy Factor: Same as the HALKEN Animation logo.

Music/Sounds: None or the opening theme of the movie.

Availability: Seen on their films from 1998 to 2017. This last appeared on the teaser trailer for Kirby And The Rainbow Curse.

Scare Factor: Same as the HAL Animation logo.

2nd Logo:

(2017-)

Logo: On a sky background, we see a paintbrush painting the HAL Laboratory logo with "ANIMATION" under it. The HAL Laboratory logo appears under the logo after 4 seconds.

FX/SFX: The paintbrush painting the logo and the byline fading in. Majestic CGI!

Cheesy Factor: But if they distribute or produce a live-action film with this logo, they never make a variant with "MOVIES" in place of "ANIMATION"!?

Music/Sounds: An abridged version of the Vipid version of the Spyglass Entertainment logo used in the template.

Availability: Brand New. This first appeared on the trailer for Kirby And The Rainbow Curse. The animated version debuted on the film itself and will be seen on future films from the company. Also appears as the intro for their website.

Scare Factor: Absolutely none. The CGI is majestic and so is the fanfare. A suitable successor to the previous logo.
