Background: Founded on May 25th, 1977 by Garrett K. Kensley (September 27, 1945 - July 5, 2019), K. Kensley Productions is the most successful animation company in Canada, producing and animating many world-famous shows, movies, shorts and TV specials including The Nubby Show, States, Lenny And Company, Franken-Liy, The Mike and Paul Show, Triviatopia, The Moonstars, Brain's Adventures and The Nail Who Saved The Holidays specials. The company’s shows were for/air on Nickelodeon, PBS Kids, Treehouse TV, CBC, MTV, MuchMusic, YTV and Teletoon, among others. After the company filed for bankruptcy on May 11th, 2018, it was purchased by DHX Media (now WildBrain). The acquisition was completed on February 5th, 2019, with Garrett K. Kensley passing away from natural causes five months later. Even though the company was founded in 1977, it didn't use a logo until 1982.

1st Logo (1982-1991)

Nicknames: "The Whipped Cream", "The Ice Cream", "The Whipped Cream And Ice Cream"

Logo: On a purple background, we see a scoop of vanilla and strawberry ice cream in an ice cream cup. A hand with a can of whipped cream comes on screen and sprays some cream on the ice cream. The words "A K. KENSLEY PRODUCTION" appears above the ice cream in a Times New Roman font. The hand then goes off screen.

Later Variant: Starting with The Nail Who Saved Halloween, the logo starts when the cream is sprayed on the ice cream.

Technique: It's all live-action safe for the text fading in at the end.

Music/Sounds: Just the sound of the whipped cream can.

Availability: Very rare. It first appeared on The Nubby Show (1982 failed pilot), and later appeared on The Nail Who Saved Halloween (1985), One Nubby Christmas (1987), One Nubby Halloween (1988) and The Nail Who Saved Easter (1988). Might have also been seen on the now-lost 1985 pilot of The Moonstars.

2nd Logo (1991-1997)

Nicknames: "Mr. Nubby", "The Debut Of Mr. Nubby", "It's Mr. Nubby", "Here's Mr. Nubby!" Logo: Just a still image of Mr. Nubby in his original design used in The Nubby Show pilot, One Nubby Christmas and One Nubby Halloween with a "™" symbol next to him superimposed in the end credits.

File:K. Kensley Logo (1991-1997).png

Technique: None.

Music/Sounds: The closing theme or silence.

Availability: Rare. It was seen on The Mike & Paul Show (1991-2019), The Nail Who Saved Valentine's Day (1993), the Oscar-nominated short The Loser (1994), Ctrl, Alt and Del (1995-2000), Jacob The Ugly (1994-2001), Crayola's Crayonworld (1995-2000), My Computer's A Werewolf (1995-2015), Cleveland's Wish (1995), The Lost Leaf (1996), and very early episodes of The Moonstars (1996-2006).

3rd Logo (Prototype Variant) (1997)[]

Nicknames: "Star-Zan", "Look Out Below!", "The Canyon"

File:K. Kensley Logo (1997 Prototype).png

Logo: On a shot of a canyon, we see one of K. Kensley's stars (depends on the show) on a rope swinging across the canyon. The star collides with the camera, and when it does so, the scene abruptly switches to a cracked picture of the signature from the next logo, along with the word "PRODUCTIONS" below it on a red-blue gradient background.

Variants: Here are the seven variants of this logo:

  • The Nubby Show: Mr. Nubby is on the rope, screaming "YA-HOOOO!"
  • The Mike & Paul Show: Mike and Paul are on the rope. Mike says "WAAHOOO!" while Paul screams in terror.
  • Ctrl, Alt and Del: The three titular keys are on the rope. Ctrl says "HOLD ON, GUYS!" before all three scream in terror.
  • Jacob The Ugly: Jacob is on the rope, screaming in terror.
  • Crayola's Crayonworld: Scarlet is on the rope, screaming "GERONIMO!!"
  • My Computer's A Werewolf: Computer is on the rope, howling like a wolf.
  • The Moonstars: Furog is on the rope, screaming in terror.
  • There claims to be a variant where Naily from The Nail Who Saved The Holidays specials is on the rope, screaming in terror, but this variant is currently lost.

Technique: The star swinging across the canyon on the rope, the scene switching. All done in traditional animation.

Music/Sounds: The star screaming, as well as a falling sound, when it is on the rope, and a crash when the screen changes.

Availability: Unused. This was going to be used on K. Kensley's shows, as well as The Nail Who Saved Christmas for the lost Naily variant, but it was scrapped due to the logo being too jarring, and so the 4th and 6th logos were used instead. The only way you can find these logos is on a short video showcasing these variants.

4th Logo (1997-2011)

Nicknames: "The Dancing Mouse", "Super-Mouse", "That Logo At The End Of The Nubby Show", "The Nubby Show Logo", "The Homestar Runner Mouse", "Sweet Moves, Mousy!", "Dancing Super-Mouse" Logo: On a blue background with film reels, we see a mouse (which resembles Homestar Runner) dancing in the bottom left corner of the screen. On the top right of the screen is a rectangle with a red outline with the word "K. Kensley" written in a bunch of strange cartoony stuff consisting of:

File:K. Kensley Logo (1997-2011).png
  • A large, orange cursive-looking capital "K"
  • A small, lavender square
  • A large, black computer-generated looking capital "K"
  • A purple, square lowercase "E" rotated 45 degrees
  • A green, squiggly capital "N"
  • A blue capital "S" written in the Comic Sans font
  • A red, lopsided capital "L"
  • A yellow man's head turned to the side shaped like a lowercase "E"
  • A brown cursive-looking capital "Y"

Below the writing, the black word "PRODUCTIONS" written in a Times New Roman font is seen. On the bottom right, a copyright notice is seen.

Trivia: The mouse's name is "Super-Mouse", and is the mascot of K. Kensley Productions. Also, the "K. Kensley" text here is actually K. Kensley's signature.

Technique: Just Super-Mouse dancing in computer animation.

Music/Sounds: A hip-hop beat.

Music/Sounds Variants: On Animobjects and post-1997 episodes of My Computer's A Werewolf, the closing theme plays over.

Availability: Common. It can be found on The Nubby Show (1997-2003, 2004-2007, 2008-2017), post-1997 episodes of The Mike & Paul Show, Ctrl, Alt and Del, Crayola's Crayonworld and My Computer's A Werewolf, Surfer Monkeys From Outer Space (1999-2010), States (2003-), Franken-Liy (2003-2017), Lenny And Company (2006-2020), most episodes of The Moonstars between 1997 and 1998, Blob The Gelatinous Wonder (2007-2011), Elyjah (2004-2015), Animobjects (2004-2012), and the first 11 episodes of Shake and Alison (2011-2017). This did not appear on Brain's Adventures (2007-2015), as the 6th logo was used instead.

Legacy: It’s a favourite logo amongst K. Kensley fans, and also nostalgic for anyone who grew up with its shows.

5th Logo (International Variant) (1997-2011)[]

Nicknames: "The Lake", "Where's Super-Mouse?"

Logo: On a shot of a top view of a body of water (either a lake or a portion of a river), we see a small K. Kensley's signature (with the second K white) at the top of the screen. Below it is the stacked white words "A K. Kensley Production for Nickelodeon UK/BBC" alongside a copyright notice.

File:K. Kensley International Logo.png

Technique: The water is live-action whereas the text are edited in

Music/Sounds: None.

Availability: Not hard to find, especially in the UK. It appears on the PAL prints of The Nubby Show, The Mike & Paul Show, Elyjah, and Animobjects, as well as the British dubs of Franken-Liy, Lenny and Company, Blob The Gelatinous Wonder, and Brain's Adventures.

Legacy: The impact of this logo in the UK is pretty much the same as the previous logo.

6th Logo (1998-)[]

Nicknames: "Boring K. Kensley Productions", "The Signature Of Boredom", "K. Kensley Of Boredom", "K. Kensley Productions Of Boredom", "Boring Signature", "K. Kensley's Signature Of Boredom"

Logo: On a black background, we see the signature from the previous logo, along with the black text "PRODUCTIONS" text below it, with a white glowing outline.

Variant: On movies and Brain's Adventures, the logo fades in and out.

Technique: None, except for the fading in and out on the variant.

Music/Sounds: None.

Availability: Also very common like the 4th logo. It first appeared at the end of The Nail Who Saved Christmas (1998). Then went on to appear at the end of both movies and adult shows (including one kid show). Such as The Night Of The Living Costumes (2000), as well as the long forgotten short shown with it, Tyler, The Purple-Eyed Tree Frog (2000), The Nubby Movie (2002), Franken-Liy (the 2003 movie, not the show), Triviatopia (2005-), the infamous Toon-World (2006), The Nubby Movie 2 (2008), 2009-2011 episodes of Countries (2007-2016), The Night Of The Living Costumes 2 (2005), as well as the short shown with it, The Four Elements (2005), States: The Movie (2008), Elyjah Saves Christmas (2007), Home For Chickens (2007), Brain's Adventures (the only kid show that used this logo), Shake and Alison In: Hurricane (2008), Triviatopia: All Hell Breaks Loose (2009) (as well as the infamous director's cut), The K. Kensley Christmas Special (2009), all episodes of The Moonstars from 1998 to 2006 when the show ended (including The Moonstars Movie (2006)), The Night Of The Living Costumes 3 (2011), as well as the short shown with it, Hamster Road (2011), The Nubby Movie 3 (2014), Tran-Zoo-Vania (2014), The Mike & Paul Movie (2017), The Night Of The Living Costumes 4 (2018), and the documentary K. Kensley's Five (2019). Also appeared on a trailer for The Moonstars: Rehydrated (2016-). Even though the logo stopped appearing on adult cartoons in 2011, it still continued to appear at the end of movies.

7th Logo (2000-2012)[]

Nicknames: "The Jumping Letters"

Logo: On a white background, the letters in K. Kensley's signature zoom out and bounce letter-by-letter. The letters stop when they reach the middle position.

Variant: On commercials promoting K. Kensley's Kids Party Mix and it's volumes, after the signature forms, the words "KIDS PARTY MIX vol. (number)" suddenly swings up from the bottom and lands on the signature, bouncing it a bit, and then the white background moves away from us, revealing that the text is being held on robotic claws in some sort of factory. The claws bring the text over to a Kids Party Mix album cover (varies on the commercial), also being held on robotic claws, and the text gets slammed on the cover. The claws which were holding the text move away from us as the claws holding the finished cover move toward the left side of the screen, with the Zellers logo spinning in, next to the cover.

Technique: The letters bouncing in computer animation.

Music/Sounds: Children laughing, accompanied by some bouncing sounds. The Kids Party Mix variant has the usual sounds, and then a "CLANG!" when the text lands on the signature, and the sounds of the robotic claws bringing the text over to the cover, another "CLANG!" when the texts gets slammed on it, and finally a spinning sound when the Zellers logo spins in. All of this is accompanied by the announcer saying "K. Kensley's Kids Party Mix (vol. (number))! Available now, at Zellers!".

Availability: It's usually seen at the end of preschooler shows such as A Boy And His Hawk (2000-2005), Bubble's World (2005-2010), Mixed-Up Alphabet Island (2007-2012), and the Lenny And Company: Educational Video Library DVDs, "Alphabet Scavenger Hunt", "Numbers On The Street", "Crate Of Shapes", and "Lenny's Colourful World", but it also appeared on commercials promoting K. Kensley merchandising up until 2011. The logo continued to appear on Mixed-Up Alphabet Island after the 9th logo was introduced up until its cancellation in 2012. Also seen at the beginning and end of the K. Kensley Productions demo reel (which can be found on their website).

8th Logo (2004-2013)[]

Nicknames: "K. Kensley In Space", "Super-Mouse In Space"

Logo: On a space background, a globe zooms up to the screen, before zooming out shortly after. After that, Super-Mouse (dancing) and K. Kensley's signature with the white word "PRODUCTIONS" below the signature slide in from the right side of the screen, before settling on the globe. Then, Mr. Nubby (from The Nubby Show) comes down from the top of the screen and pulls down a green-striped background. Super-Mouse then winks at the viewer and 'Calamity the Witch (from The Night Of The Living Costumes and Lenny and Company) zooms by us on her broomstick at the bottom of the screen, leaving behind a trail of smoke. The trail of smoke dissolves into the text "The creators of The Nubby Show, States, The Night Of The Living Costumes, The Mike & Paul Show, The Nail Who Saved The Holidays and The Moonstars".

Technique/Trivia: Flash animation. Major inspiration was taken from the long version of the Cartoon Pizza logo.

Music/Sounds: An extended version of the hip-hop beat from the 3rd logo, a bicycle ring when Super-Mouse winks, and a monster truck sound when 'Calamity passes by us.

Availability: Extinct. It was only used as the opening animation of the K. Kensley website from the time period.

9th Logo (2011-)[]

Nicknames: "K. Kensley All-Stars"

File:K. Kensley Logo (Kids, 2011-2018).png

Logo: On a blurry white background with several colourful abstract shapes flying about, we see a clear square/oval that provides a “clear” view of the flying shapes; the square/oval has K. Kensley's signature and the black word "PRODUCTIONS" embossed in it at the top next to the signature. Suddenly, we see some of K. Kensley's most famous stars running through the logo, as the square/oval begins to rotate. At the end, one of the stars ends up coming towards the logo, ending in a very extreme close-up of the star. Depending on the show's target audience, one of these two similar but very distinct variants of this logo is used; one for K. Kensley's kids shows and the other for K. Kensley's adult shows. The stars, “music” and logo shape differed depending on the logo. Here are the stars for each version of the logo, in the order that they appear:

  • Kids: The words are in a purple square:
  1. 'Calamity the Witch (from Lenny and Company) (as if running or sliding or something)
  2. Mississippi (from States) (smiling)
  3. Little Miss Livid (from The Nubby Show)
  4. Mr. Nubby (from The Nubby Show) (tackling Miss Livid)
  5. Runt of the Litter and Baby Jaguar (both from Lenny and Company) (both running)
  6. Florida (from States) (with a weird “craning neck” animation)
  7. Mike & Paul (from The Mike & Paul Show) (both crashing into the logo)
  • Adults: The words are in a brown oval:
  1. Iran (from Countries), Lyva (from The Moonstars), Fox (from Triviatopia), Plant (also from Triviatopia), Basketbalumbia (from Franken-Liy), Norway (from Countries), Australia (also from Countries), Furog (from The Moonstars), Franken-Liy (from the show of the same name), Pencil Head (from Triviatopia), Fluur (from The Moonstars), Antarctica (from Countries) and Otis The Lake Monster (from Franken-Liy) (all the mentioned characters fall from above)
  2. Tito (from Triviatopia) (running toward the logo, like he's running up to the screen)

Later Variant: After the company was purchased by WildBrain in February 2019, a byline reading “A WildBrain Company” is seen below the square/oval throughout the entire logo.

Technique/Trivia: A combination of 2-D animation (the characters) and 3-D elements (the K. Kensley shape) which pays homage to the 1994 Hanna-Barbera logo, even being done by the same studio, Charlex. The appearance of Franken-Liy characters in the adult variant despite the show’s target audience being children is likely because of Franken-Liy’s appearance in the Triviatopia movie, Triviatopia: All Hell Breaks Loose.

Music/Sounds: Same as the Hanna-Barbera Comedy and Action logos.

Availability: Common. Seen on all K. Kensley TV programs since 2011.
