Revision as of 18:27, 4 May 2015

1st Logo

(1990-2000)

Logo ???

FX/SFX: None.

Music/Sounds: The opening variant is usually silent, but on the closing variant, the closing theme of the show was used

Availability: Seen on Melvin shows during the era. The opening variant was also seen on television broadcasts of the 1999-2000 Atomic Mario cartoon, several season one episodes of Atomic Mario and His Amazing Friends, and may also appear on Captain Luigi (1999 cartoons) and Warburton (1992 TV Series) episodes of the same era. On Netflix the opening logo is preserved, but the closing logo is plastered by the 2004-2008 Nickelodeon Webheads Productions logo, First seen on Jack in the Box to Last seen on My Big Big Enemy (2000).

Scare Factor: None.

2nd Logo

(2000-2001)

Nickname: "MP" Logo On a blue background, several large sets of lines Flash. Over the lines, a "star" traces out the company logo that of a stylized "MP", with another "M" cut out of the "M" part of the logo. When the logo is fully traced and the lines are in position (with horizontal lines for the "M" part and vertical lines for the "P"), the logo flashes, and the "M" cut out turns white while the rest turns yellow. The logo shrinks to the top-left corner, an "MELVIN PRODUCTIONS LTD" is drawn out with a star below it in a font not unlike the Nelvana logo. A respective company byline is seen below the logo.

Variants:

There is also a completely different "short" version in which some white grids rapidly converge together to form the logo at the top of the screen with the usual text forming below (the byline is closer to the company name this time). The "O" shines with a "ping".

There is also a rare still variant of this logo with the Nelvana byline.

Sunshire-Melvin combo variant: See Sunshire Entertainment for description.

Bylines:

2000-2001: "A CORUS ENTERTAINMENT INC COMPANY"

FX/SFX: The "star" effects and drawing in of the logo, and the rotating lines, which may remind of the Corus Entertainment logo.

Music/Sounds: A very dramatic fanfare composed by Johnny Douglas. The end theme of the show may finish over it, especially the short and still variants.

Availability: Most Melvin shows of this time Dr Mario (2000-Present), Luigi (2001), And the solo Atomic Monica series, Mouse Tales) have been updated with either a Melvin logo and/or a Rainmaker logo. However, you may still see this logo on some videos of Melvin shows of this time. It also turned up sometimes when Atomic Monica and Her Amazing Friends was reran on Cartoon Network. The still variant with the Nelvana byline is rare, and it was seen only on The Grumpy Grinches Jimmy Five, the later Dr. Strew/Nelvana animated special. Any shows that used this on Netflix have it plastered with the 3rd logo, First seen on Sonic the Hedgehog (2000) to Last seen on Monica and the Space Alphabets (2001).

Scare Factor: Depending on the logo variant:

Low to medium. The fanfare is overly dramatic and the animation is cheesy, so some might be startled by it. Low with the closing theme. None for the Nelvana variant.

3rd Logo

(2001-2003, 2004 2012-Present)

Nicknames: "MP II", "Atomic Betty From The Underworld", "The Incredible Shrinking Betty Of Doom" "Oh dear it got Worse" "Spider-Man Is not happy at this logo" "The Marvel Ripoff" Betty the Terrible

Logo: In space, we pan out through a series of glowing 3D bars. As the bars rotate up towards us, we see that it is the Melvin Productions logo, done in glorious 3D (and with the "M" cut-out not filled in). In the background, a CGI Atomic Betty leaps up, and the logo is "absorbed" into her body, turning her silver. The space background turns into a "timewarp mode" into a silver background, as the words "MELVIN PRODUCTIONS, LTD" rise up from the bottom-right with a trail behind it. The "MP" logo returns to the screen, as the silver Atomic Betty somersaults to the top of it and takes a prowler-like stance above it as the logo takes its place on the center of the screen (Betty's eyes return shortly after). The Melvin Productions text takes its place below the logo. The byline, "A CORUS™ ENTERTAINMENT INC COMPANY" With Corus In Its Own Font fades in when the animation is all done

Trivia:Betty Isn't Metal and She is Too Big and it Dosn't Match The Marvel Productions CGI Spidey Logo

Variants:

On some shows, this logo is bylineless.

On some movies, When Atomic Betty Appears, Spider-Man Appears from the left then kicks Atomic Betty out of the logo and says "Get a new logo Betty!".

A In-credit version exists

On late 2004s David W. Armstrong co-produced shows, a copyright stamp for Matthew Mouse Productions fades in below.

Sunshire-Melvin Combo Variant: See Sunshire Entertainment for description.

However the Most funniest variant was seen on Q*Bert has Atomic Betty getting Knocked by Q*bert Before the abstract MP Appears.

Starting With Angry Birds Toons: The Logo is givin a High Definition Look And Mônica In her 2013-Present Appearence Replaces Atomic Betty.

On YouTube Poop The Series: Atomic Betty is replaced by a Mario Head and Then He says "I'ma Bet you Can do this"

On "Jimmy Five's Crazy Doctor Company", Atomic Betty is Dressed Like a Nurse. On the Season 1 Finale, Betty is hooked on life support on a hospital bed throughout the last credit roll. The credits run as usual over a picture of the hand, with life support equipment attached on either side. You can hear the beeps of the heart monitor, too. After the credits complete, the full company name and byline fade in and Atomic Betty flatlines and dies, with a long, high-pitched beep heard. This variation is especially rare, as reruns of the finale on TCC Laugh Contains The 2012 Version Of This Logo After The Variant.

FX/SFX: ???

Music/Sounds: A THX-like "chord" sound with some futuristic "whooshes" composed by Robert J. Walsh. On the video release of the 2001 X-Ralph pilot, a synth tune is heard . At other times, the ending theme plays over it Or It Trail ends to The Corus Entertainment Logo.

Music/Sounds Variants:

A Russian Tail: It was silent.

The World of Dinosaur and A Mouse in the Sausage Peg: The 2nd half of the Universal theme plays.

Bidu in Time: The opening theme of the movie.

Availability: Rare. The short version was seen on many shows, including the late 2001's Melvin Action Universe block (Mouse Tales, Giants Eating Winx Club, and the Pryde of the Wreck It Ralph pilot), Jimmy Five Master Detective, Postman Pat and the Delivery Service, Dangerfield Fly, Darkwing Duck, Atomic Monica, Youtube Poop, Bowsers, Wiggles Suck (2001-2004), Captain Flamingo (2003 series), Rocket Mario (2002 series), Young Rodents, Locomotive (2001 mini-series), and the animated adaption of Paul and Company. It was most notably seen on Armstrong co-produced shows like Youtube Babies, Chuck and Red Rescue Rangers and Boof Troop, The Adventures of Maggy (Season 1-2), The longer version can be considered Current; it was mainly used on early 90's video releases of Melvin material (such as segments from the 60's Melvin Comedy show, and the various other Melvin cartoons made up to that point), First seen on The Thomson Show (2001) to Last seen on the first season of American Star (2004), The In-credit logo first seen on The Russian Tail, released on April 18, 2001 to last seen on Mouse in the Sausage Peg, released on April 15, 2004. The Widescreen version was first seen at the end on Flying with the Smudge' released on November 28, 2004, and made its Final appearance on Smudge in the Sausage Peg, released on April 15, 2004 and A Greedy in the New York, released on December 16, 2004 (though only at the end; the 5th logo was used at the beginning of the film), And makes A comeback appearance on Mandy Mouse, released on March 23, 2012 and it also appears on new shows.

Scare Factor: Despends On the Variant 2001-2010:Minimal To High Because Of the Appearence Of Atomic Betty. For the Q*Bert Variant:None because it makes you to not see the logo anymore. Also, Q*bert fans may like this, Same Goes for the Spider Man Variant. 2014-Present:Thanks to the improved animation And the Appearence of Mônica, the logo now has a scare factor of None Just like the Current Gracie Films Logo. Jimmy Five's Crazy Doctor Company:None It's really funny to see That Betty is Dessed Like a Nurse. For The season 1 Finale: Low, Unless you can count on the Dying Betty

4th Logo

(2003-2005)

Nickname: "The Weird Thing" Logo: On a black/gray gradient background, a yellow "starburst" appears. Inside it is the former Melvin Comics logo, consisting of a large "M" design with "MELVIN" embedded into it. Across the "M" is the word "COMICS" scrawled in Melvin Entertainment Group (1991) a graffiti-like font. Next to the logo is a larger blue sunburst with the stacked words, "MELVIN ENTERTAINMENT GROUP" inside of it in a plain font.

Variant: Later on, the copyright stamp appears on the bottom left of the logo.

FX/SFX/Cheesy Factor: None. It's only a cheaply done logo looking like it's done in Windows Movie Maker. But the design of the entire logo is cool.

Music/Sounds: The end theme of the show, usually.

Availability: Most 2003-2005 Melvin shows have it, but X-Ralph's logo has been updated with the 3rd logo.

Scare Factor: None.

5th Logo

(2005-2012)

Nicknames: "The Melvin Filmstrip" Logo: On a black background, in a white rectangle, a logo similar to the Melvin Comics logo is seen, but the "M" now has squares cut out on either side of it and "Films" written in red script across it. The dot of the "i" may shine with a "ping". The byline, "A Corus Entertainment Inc Company" appears below With CORUS In its Own Font.

Variant:

In-credit logo

FX/SFX: Just the "pinging" for the regular logo.

Cheesy Factor: The tilting and pinging.

Music/Sounds: The end of the show's theme.

Music/Sounds Variant:

A Greedy in the New York: The 2nd Half of the 20th Century Fox theme plays.

The Penguin in the Ice: The opening theme of the movie.

Availability: Most Melvin shows from this period keep this logo on BBC1 such as The Adventures of Maggy and Sky Freaks. The versions of these shows on Netflix plaster them with the 8th logo In-credit logo first seen at the beginning on A Greedy in the New York, released on December 16, 2005 (though only at the beginning; the 3rd logo was used at the end of the film) and and made its final appearance on The Penguin in the Ice, released on December 15, 2012.

Scare Factor: None, more effort was spent on this.
