Background: Rescan Entertainment (originally spelled as Re-Scan Entertainment before the name change to DeFabbio Games and then to its current name) is a multinational video game developer and publisher headquartered in Shinjuku, Tokyo. Since it's formation in 1979, it has produced several top-selling video game titles, some of their most notable being The Incendium, Alaric's Endeavor, Population: 3, and Esc. In 1998, It was bought by DeFabbio Pictures and became the game unit in 1999 changing the company name. In 2016, the company changed to its current name.

Logo: On a gray striped background, the words "Re-Scan Entertainment" are shown in square dark gray text. A white laser passes over the scene 4 times. The logo fades out to black.

  • Occasionally "©(Year) Re-Scan Corp." would be shown at the bottom of the logo.

FX/SFX: The laser passing by.

Music/Sounds: None. On the Romano Family Quartet video game, a laser sound plays.

Availability: Extremely rare. Seen on earlier games from the company.

Rescan 1987

Logo: We see a black background. A green scan laser passes by 3 times, with the 2nd time forming the outline of the word "Re-Scan", and the 3rd time filling the word in. The word "Entertainment" appears beneath it, using a left-to-right 3d blinds animation.

Variants:

  • There is a variant where "Entertainment" fades in.
  • Originally, the logo is in 8-bit.

FX/SFX: Same as the last logo.

Music/Sounds: The whooshes of a laser. On 8-bit games, none.

Availability: Rare. Appeared on games from the time.

DeFabbio Games[]

1st Logo

(1999-2002)

Logo: We see smoke rising from the bottom of the screen. Then, 2 bolts of electricity form the text "DEFABBIO GAMES". On top, Pongo from 101 Dalmatians is seen. The logo stays still for a few seconds. The text goes into flame, making more smoke. Pongo runs away as the logo explodes.

2nd Logo (Only on GBA releases)

(2002-2004)

Logo: On a white background, we just see the text "DEFABBIO GAMES".

3rd Logo (Romano Family Quartet and the Land of Opportunity custom variant)

(2005)

Logo: We see the letter D on a black background. It fades out. An F appears and fades out. A letter G does the same. The other letters in "DeFabbio Games" flash randomly until near the end, in which the full text is shown. When the music is over, the logo dissolves with a burnt film effect.

Music: Same as the 2000 Neversoft logo.

Rescan 2016

Note: In mid-2016, Rescan announced that they would be making a transition to more serious titles. To showcase this, they released this logo, with it being their first new logo since the company's name changed

Logo: On a black background, two red lasers appear in the middle of the screen and move in opposite directions to form the word "Rescan" in a white box outline. The word "Entertainment" fades in below the box and the entire logo fades out to black

Music/Sounds: A whooshing laser sound as the logo forms, followed by ambient sci-fi noises. On the International Incident: Romano Family Quartet tie-in video game, it's just the sci-fi noises.

Music/Sounds variants:

  • Usually the title music of the game the logo is on plays over it
