Background: Starlight Productions is a production company that is headquartered in Hazard, Kentucky far behind Long John Silvers. Founded in 1987, Starlight Productions is formerly known as Siam's Network, which is named after Joseph Siam (December 28, 1917-July 4, 1983), until 2012 where it changed its name to a current name.

Starlight Productions is notable for producing many animated cartoons such as Street Kids (which is popular when it aired in Cartoon Network in 1992 as the part of the channel launch), Wild Over Yonder (which aired in 1996 on that same network), The Neverland Pirate (based on the Peter Pan story by J. M. Barrie, not the Disney version), Bizzy Bee (which aired on the USA Cartoon Express in 1994), Sampson and Friends, As The Bus Turns, Street Kids: Teen Life (a spin-off of Street Kids aimed at young teens) and Max: The New Adventures (a promoted cartoon exclusively available at OfficeMax stores from 1996 to 1999). Starlight also animates 1988 commercials for Butterfinger starring as well the first three Easter specials based on The Simpsons by Matt Groening.

Siam's Network[]

1st Logo (1988-1996, January 1997-2005)[]

Nicknames: "Animated Drawings", "The Street Kids Logo", "Drawings of Kids and Dog", "Drawings from Heck!"

Logo: On the white background, a childish drawing of the boy appear. He waves his hands, then it cuts to a drawing of a girl who twirling. Then it goes to an another boy (who wears a baseball hat) who hits the ball with a bat, and the scene goes to a an another girl (with black hair) hopping and finally goes to a dog who barks as the speech bubble containing "'S" appear above him. Then the text "SIAM'S" in light blue flew to the center of the screen and after that the "Network" text in black fades in under it.

Variants:

  • On Wild Over Yonder, the second girl is replaced by an Asian boy with the same action as her.
  • On the 2003 airings of Street Kids, the "SIAM'S" text is pink instead of light blue.
  • A black and white version of this logo appear in a few episodes of Bizzy Bee. The notable episode where you can find it is "Honey I Grow the Insects!"
  • On The Neverland Pirate, the kids wear Peter Pan's hat.
  • On some episodes of Street Kids, the logo is in warp speed.
  • An in-credit version of this logo was spotted in the animated specials The Very Best of Amber (1991) and Tell it To My Heart (1988, where this logo premiered in) on HBO.

Trivia:

  • It is rumored that Ed and Mark Holmquist (best known for composing Street Kids) did this logo's music and sounds.
  • Some of the kids in this logo look very similar to the characters from Street Kids. This lead to a confusion that people assumed that there are Street Kids characters in this logo.

FX/SFX: All the cheesiness and the animation of the logo.

Music/Sounds: A 24-note synth music and a small fanfare in the background. While it plays, the kids says the corresponding letter of the company logo:

  • The first boy says "S!".
  • The first girl says "I!".
  • The second boy says "A!".
  • The second girl/third boy says "M!".
  • The dog barks.

Finally, the kids say "SIAM'S!" (offscreen) when the "SIAM'S" text flew in the center and the male announcer says "Network" when the "Network" text fades in under "SIAM's".

Music/Sounds Variants:

  • On the pilot episode of Wild Over Yonder, an audio from the "Nightmare Face" logo is used instead of the normal audio. The Wild Over Yonder pilot aired on August 20, 1996, and the "Nightmare Face" logo (the 2nd logo) is introduced on December 12, 1996. So, the Wild Over Yonder pilot is likely intended to introduce the "Nightmare Face" logo at the end. However, due to an error, the pilot use the "Animated Drawings" logo instead of the "Nightmare Face" logo, but keeps the audio intact. This would give this variant a nickname "Drawings from Heck".
  • On the Street Kids episode "Bye Bye Puppy/Too Much Junk Food", the music trails off to the Cartoon Network Studios logo.
  • On the Street Kids Season 5 Finale, "Tales of the Unexpected" (which aired in August 1999), the announcer says "Next time, a new adventure!" instead of "Network" and the kids yell "Siam's Newtwork!" instead of just "Siam's". The same thing happened to the 2nd logo.

Availability: Extremely common. You can see this logo in many of the Cartoon Network shows, especially Street Kids. The logo is also seen on the Street Kids episodes from 1997 to 2004. The logo is last seen in one animated movie that has it: Shinanigans (2005). The B&W version is rare and can be only found in a few episodes of Bizzy Bee. The notable episode where you can find it is "Honey I Grow the Insects!". This logo made its debut in Tell it To My Heart (an animated special from 1988 that features dancing cats set to Taylor Dayne's "Tell It to My Heart" song) on HBO. The "Drawings from Heck" variant is extinct, as Wild Over Yonder pilot only aired once on Cartoon Network and will never aired again. Don't expect to see this logo in The Simpsons Easter specials, as Siam's is the only one that animates them, not producing them.

Editor's Note: This logo is notable for its constant airplay on Cartoon Network, thanks to its cute atmosphere that fits the 80's/90's. However, the kids shouting the company's name may annoy you, but it's nothing compare to the second logo below!

2nd Logo (1996-2009, 2012-present)[]

Nicknames: "Nightmare Face", "AAAAAAAHHHHH!!", "Desco", "Mega-Scary Face", "MSF", "The Reason Why I Don't Watch At The End of Street Kids and Max: The New Adventures", "Pinchface's Cartoon Brother", "Siam's!", "Face from Heck", "Why, Siams!? WHY!?", "My TRUE Worst Nightmare!", "The TRUE Personification Of All That Is Evil", "Nickelodeon Pinchface Rip-Off"

Logo: In the fastly-moving dark red background, there is a creepy, moving L-shaped image with a face, then some creepy eyes, dentures and eyebrows appear in the center and arranges itself to look like a face. When the center face says "Siam's", the "Siam's" text in the same color from the 1st logo zooms into the center. The face stares into the viewer as the "Network" text in white appear under "Siam's".

Variants:

  • On the Wild Over Yonder episode "Runaway Timmy" (the only episode to have this logo) as well as some Street Kids episodes, the logo is in warp speed.
  • On Max: The New Adventures, Desco's eyes have crosses in them.
  • On Street Kids: The Movie (1999) and The Wild Over Yonder Movie (1999), the background is black and Desco looks more creepier than the normal logo. He's still staring at the viewer, but he now smiles as he has accomplished something.
  • In 2012, when Siam's Network became Starlight Productions, the same "Starlight" and "Productions" texts from the 4th logo replaces "Siam's" and "Network", respectively, and Desco now says "Starlight Productions" instead of "Siam's Network".
  • On The Street Kids Movie 2: Lost in Japan (2002), Desco and the L image both wore Japanese headbands.
  • The video games made by Siam's completely skips Desco altogether and the "Siam's Network" text is in the black color.

Trivia:

  • Oddly enough, this logo appeared after the end credits of the Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends episode "Where There's a Wilt There's a Way/Everyone Knows It's Bendy". This was an editing mistake made by Cartoon Network when they make custom split-screen credits. How did they do that? Well, normally, Cartoon Network makes custom split-screen credits for each show and it's companies. Siam's Network was the only one that created multiple CN cartoons, and Cartoon Network created a generic one for these shows [which mentioned Siam's Network as the company and included Desco]. But on the said episode of Foster's Home, Cartoon Network accidentally flubbed and used the Siam's Network split screen credits for that episode, and that's why Desco was used. As of 2008, the logo is plastered by Cartoon Network Studios on repeat airings (which was in the original credits to begin with). Still, it is one of the most oddest editing mistakes ever made.
  • On the 2018 airings of OK K.O.! Let's Be Heroes on Boomerang, this logo is used instead of the Cartoon Network Studios logo in the same fashion as the previous one, due to an error. This was fixed in July 12, 2019.
  • In 2012, Siam's Network is rebranded as Starlight Productions during its re-opening tour. As a result, the face in this logo is given the name: "Desco", and is now given arms, legs and an ability to speak (Desco was voiced by Tom Kenny). The L image with a face is given as Desco's sidekick and is named "Lucky". Desco even had his own web series, titled "The Adventures of Desco". The reason why Desco is revived because there are a lot of mashups with this logo made by autistic users on YouTube (along with Klasky-Cuspo's Splaat) as well as being the scariest closing logos at the time.

FX/SFX: The fast-moving background, the zooming test, and the face moving in all the 2D animation.

Music/Sounds: A techno upbeat version of the Siam's Network jingle from the first logo, then a loud whirring sound when the face appeared in the center. The face says "Siam's Network!" in the robotic voice and after the logo zooms into the center, there is the same dog bark from the 1st logo and a digital "crash" sound.

Music/Sounds Variants:

  • Some episodes of Street Kids omits the dog bark.
  • On the 1999 Street Kids episode "Willby's Imaginary Friend/Floyd's In Trouble", instead of saying the company's name Desco says "Willby's got nothin' on this!"... in Floyd's voice. Then the same narrator voice from The Powerpuff Girls says "Siams Network".
  • On Max: The New Adventures, there is a loud screech and the whirring is more louder than before.
  • On The Twister Mouth Show, a trombone version of this logo's music is used.
  • On the 2001 Street Kids episode "Stream Saver/Have A Cake!", instead of the dog bark, Willby's voice is heard saying "Oh no! We got to save Leon!".
  • On the Street Kids Season 8 Finale, "The Big Parade" (which aired in June 2002), Desco says "Next time, a new adventure!" instead of "Siam's Network" and the same voice from the "Willby's Imaginary Friend/Floyd's In Trouble" variant says "Siam's Newtwork". The same thing happened to the 1st logo.

Availability: Extremely common like the first logo. It can be seen on most Siam's/Starlight shows on Cartoon Network, especially with later episodes of Street Kids (not counting the 1997, 2002 and 2004 episodes, which uses the first logo above). This logo made its debut on the rather obscure cartoon, Max: The New Adventures (which is only available at OfficeMax stores). This logo is also seen on most Siam's/Starlight movies ranging from Street Kids: The Movie to Camphire (not counting The Steet Kids Movie 3: The Kids Over Yonder, which uses the third logo below). It's also on the company's website too, as it is seen in the front page.

Editor's Note: Like the previous logo above, this one is notable for its constant airplay on Cartoon Network, thanks to in-your-face animation as well as Desco which is very creepy. Due to Desco's scary nature, this logo is well-known to fear many children who watches cartoons. Adults and teens may find it annoying, but at least teens are known to create mashups of this logo and uploaded videos of them to YouTube, which may be the reason why Siam's Network is rebranded as Starlight Productions and revived Desco.

3rd Logo (2004, 2009, 2018)[]

Nicknames: "The Wolf", "What's That Wolf Doing in the City?", "Local Wolf Goes Awoooo!", "Moonlight in the City"

Logo: In the blue background, there is a city that resembles New York City. On the top of the buildings is the grey wolf who walks up to the one of the boxes. As the full moon rises, the wolf will start howling. When the wolf finishes howling, the moon got brighter as the same Siam's Network logo from the 2nd logo zooms to the center to the screen. If you look closely at the wolf's eyes, he had the same eyes Desco had in the 2nd logo.

Variants:

  • This logo appears in two formats, A 4:3 fullscreen version and a 2.35:1 scope version.
  • In the 2018 demo video for Starlight Productions, the Siam's Network logo is replaced with the Starlight Productions logo from the 4th logo.

FX/SFX: All CGI animation.

Music/Sounds: A loud, Eurobeat version of the 1988 logo's music. Before the wolf howls, a female announcer says "Siam's Network". Also, there's a BOING! sound when the wolf opens its eyes to see the moon. After the wolf howls, a robotic voice similar to Desco is heard saying "And that's all we can do!" at the end.

Music/Sounds Variants:

  • In the 2018 demo video for Starlight Productions, the 2.35:1 scope version is used at the beginning. However, we do not hear the robot voice, and instead we hear a sparkling/thunderclap sound right after the wolf finishes howling. Instead of saying "Siam's Network", the female voice now says "Starlight Productions".

Availability: Rare. Can be seen on the 2004 film The Street Kids Movie 3: The Kids Over Yonder (both start and at the end) and appears at the beginning of Camphire (the second logo is used at the end of that film). Recently appeared in the 2018 demo videos made for Starlight Productions.

Editor's Note: While it's not as famous as the two previous logos, it's still nice and creative. Also, the wolf's howling may caught you off-guard.

Starlight Productions[]

4th Logo (2012-)[]

Nicknames: "Desco II", "Desco's Back!", "It's Desco Again!", "Nightmare Face II", "MSF II", "Mega-Scary Face", "The Return of Desco"

Logo: In the black background, we see the newly formed, white-colored Starlight Productions logo in the same font used in the 3rd Siam's logo. Suddenly, Desco appears out of nowhere and kicks the logo off the screen. Afterwards, we hear a crashing sound.

FX/SFX: Desco kicking the logo.

Music/Sounds: The same audio from the 2nd Siam's logo, as well as some new sound effects when Desco appeared, such as the "boing" sound and a cat meow.

Availability: Fairly current. This logo is made exclusively for the web series, The Adventures of Desco. Unknown if it will be used in future Starlight cartoons.

Editor's Note: One of the reasons Desco is made as a response toward logo editors who edited the 2nd Siam's logo as well as the rebranding of Starlight from Siam's. So this logo is like a combination of both the 2nd and the 3rd Siam's logos.
